TEVA COSIC
Teva Cosic (b.1994) is an artist based in Australia between Gimuy/Cairns and Naarm/Melbourne whose work explores ideas around memory, loss and place. Influenced by her cross-cultural (Swedish/Croatian) background, she is interested in how we create and sustain social, cultural and emotional connections through images and image making practices.
I would like to acknowledge the Tradtional Owners and Custodians of the lands on which I live and work. I pay my respects to the stories, traditions and living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and acknowledge that sovereignty has never been ceded.
As inhabitants of the photographic universe we have become accustomed to photographs: They have grown familiar to us. We no longer take any notice of most photographs, concealed as they are by habit; in the same way, we ignore everything familiar in our environment and only notice what has changed. Change is informative, the familiar redundant.
